The Need of Remotely Sensed Data in Marine Research

Image of The Need of Remotely Sensed Data in Marine Research
The growth of interest in the marine environment has forced man to pay more attention to this environment. The sea is more and more being used in man's activities, which in turn may endanger the conservatiop of marine natural resources.
In order to fully understand the marine environment, remotely sensed data may offer additional and important informations to conventionally derived data. Remote sensing of the sea may serve as a monitoring tool -for the observation of environmental conditions.
This paper discusses several aspects of marine research which apply both conventional and remote sensing methods. Suggestions are made for a national and/or an international cooperation in marine research.
