Remote Sensing Technology for Estimation of Surface Energy Balance Components relate with Land Use and Land Cover in Semarang-Indonesia

Image of Remote Sensing Technology for Estimation of Surface Energy Balance Components relate with Land Use and Land Cover in Semarang-Indonesia
Remote sensing reflectance and emittance data can be used to estimate various surface energy balance OM components needed to characterize net radiation (Rn), soil heat flux (G), sensible heat flux (H), and latent heat flux (LE) to defined mathematically. The significance of this study is the use of Landsat ETM satellite data to estimate SEB components to characterize the energy flux in different land cover types in the study area (Semarang-Indonesia using ErMapper, Arcview GIS, and Boxplot method for statistical analysis. The result is total area of Semarang is 144134 ha and dominated by open land (58154 ha) and plantation (57046 ha), then residence (11798 ha), paddy field (9453 ha), embankment (2826 ha), forest (2175 ha), waterbody (1651 ha), and industry (732 ha) respectively. LE in urban area (open land 25 W/m2, residence 26 W/m2 and industry 30 \Wm) are lowest than in vegetation area (paddy field 106 W/m2, plantation 116 W/m2, and forest 152 W/m2), and in water area (embankment 139 W/m2 and waterbody 176 W/m2). The calculation of proportion SEB components is more clearly denote that LE in urban area (18%) is lowest than in vegetation area (plantation 61%, forest 69% and paddy field 73%) or water area (waterbody and embankment 84%). Otherwise, H in urban area around 70% (industry 120 W/m2, residence 106 W/m2 and open land 98 W/m2) are highest than vegetation area about 25% (forest 50 W/m2 and plantation 58 W/m2), and wet area about 9% (embankment 15 W/m2, waterbody 19 W/m2 and paddy field 26 W/m2). Likewise for Rn in urban area (138-149 W/m2) relatively lower than vegetation (190-220 W/m2) and water area (166-210 W/m2). Whereas G in the urban area (residence 18 W/m2, industry 16 W/m2) relatively hi ,her than in vegetation (forest 13 W/m2) and water area (embankment 11 W/m2, and waterbody 13 W/m2). From the results of this research, the readers can understand the difference SEB components on any type of land cover.
