LAPAN-A2 Attitude Control Strategy for Equatorial Surveillance Mission

LAPAN-A2 is the second Indonesian micro satellite that dedicated for surveillance mission in the equatorial region. This surveillance mission is established by visible camera system and radio communication system for maritime surveillance AIS and amateur communication repeater. An appropriate attitude control strategy is needed to support the mission. The attitude control strategy of LAPAN-A2 is based on the angular momentum management concept. This concept implements momentum bias method in which the angular momentum is maintained in Y axis. The Y axis is defined as pitch axis which is perpendicular to the flight direction. This concept is well implemented in the first Indonesian micro satellite, LAPAN-TUBSAT. Since LAPAN-A2 use same type of actuator as LAPAN-TUBSAT, several control parameters have to be reconfigured to accommodate moment inertia change of spacecraft. Simulation considered for adjusting reaction wheel's control parameter to get best performance attitude control of nadir pointing mode
