Mixing Height Di Atas Gunung Api Di Sumatera Terkait Dengan Penyebaran So2 Vertikal Studi Kasus: Gunung Krakatau, Marapi, Dan Sinabung Tahun 2011

SO2 is a reactive and corrosive gas, and SO2 from the volcano become a source of sulfate aerosols in the stratosphere. Dispersion of SO2 from volcanic crater to the environment is determined by the strength of the eruption that is indicated by plume rise of material volcano and meteorological conditions that in this study is focused on mixing height. Mixing height is the height to which the lower atmosphere where the gases mix well because of strong turbulence. Plume eruption height is analogized as stack height. Principally, SO2 dispersion will cover a long range area if the plume eruption exceeds mixing height, vice versa. In this study, mixing height values generated using the air pollution model namely TAPM (the air pollution model). The plume eruption data is observed visually by Volcano Observation Post of Marapi, Sinabung, and Krakatoa volcanoes. Results showed that daily maximum mixing height above the volcano in Sumatera did not exceed 500 m above
ground.When the condition of volcano activity is in normal level, the plume of emission do not exceed the mixing height. While the volcano activity is higher the normal level, the plume eruption reach above maximum mixing height. Therefore the SO2 dispersion when volcanic activity in normal levels just at the surface around the volcano.
