Abstract
In 2014, LAPAN (Indonesian National Institute of Aeronautics and Space) in collaboration with TU Berlin began to study the development of a UAV technology demonstrator called LSA-02 _gircraft. The aircraft's mechanical flight control system will be supplemented with an electronic flight control system. The methodology and process to develop the electronic flight control system for the LSA-02 aircraft follow the guidance that is given in guidelines and regulations. Functional hazard analysis is a first step which must be completed in the development of an electronic flight control system. The aim of this paper is to describe the functional hazard analysis that is performed for the LSA-02 aircraft, limited to longitudinal motion. The functional hazard analysis results identify which failures of functions are critical for flight safety. The results are influencing the system design, especially the required redundancies. As a UAV technologies demonstrator, the LSA-02 aircraft must perform flight safely when the experimental electronic control system is active.A safety pilot onboard in aircraft and fast decoupling mechanism is needed to take control the aircraft from automatic mode to manual mode, in case experimental electronic control system fails. The FHA result show that five identical actuator is needed to ensure no catastrophic event is occurs, when the EFCS is active in longitudinal motion offlight.
